I share many of your thoughts, not least the daily deathrun that is London commuting by bike.

The unasked question dangling silently (and no doubt strategically) from this post goes something like: 'what ungodly gargantuan obstacle (apart from the English press) stops us from knowing the success stories?!' There are, after all, at least a few causes that benefit from something approaching balanced public coverage. The environment springs to mind, where a news item might be just as likely to report a successful recycling campaign as it would the probable impasse of the forthcoming Copenhagen summit.

So what's the difference? Is it that environmental successes are collated and pedalled with as much enegery as the press hack looking for the next bad news scoop?

Is there, or is there any place for, such a 'good news indicator/feed' in the prevention industry? And are there political and public figures our there prepared to lend their public support to the good work you talk about?

The mainstream press may or may not have an unnatural penchant for bad over good/failure over success, but isn't it also true that they can't report what they don't know?khibberdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16156735362221665368noreply@blogger.com
